2. My tech tool is called: "Print What You Like". The purpose of this technological website (it is free) is to be able to print what ever you want that is displayed on your screen (the title itself says that). You need to download it to your computer to have it permanently or you can access the website each time you want to print whatever you want.
3. How to use this website:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJbh_WIivbg (this is a video to help you understand how to use it, it is really simple and fast.)
• First of all you need to create an account to able to use it.
• Go to the place where it says: "Bookmarklet".
• On the first section ("To Install") and click on the link to be able to have it on a bookmark.
• On the bar where it says: "Enter a URL". Put one, and hit the "Start" button on the keyboard.
• The website that you chose will appear on the screen with a "Print What You Like" window on the right portion of the screen.
• Highlighter whatever you want to print out on the website displayed on the rest of the screen that is not occupied.
• Manipulate with the other tools (all of them can be found in the PWYL window) and do whatever you want or should do.
• Hit the "Print" button on the PWYL window.
• Approve the preview, select a printer (if you have one) and print.
• Have fun using this website!
4. Example:
In this snapshot you can see various things. for example:
• The entire screen in which you are working on.
• The website you want to print and the PWYL window to work on it.
• The tool you can use to manipulate the website when you print on the PWYL window.
• The yellow part is the highlighted part that are going to be printed when you print.
Here is an example of another website where only one part of the actual text in going to be printed (shaded in yellow).
5. How students can use this:
Well, imagine you are doing a homework. You have to print an e-mail that your teacher sent you. I bet it has happened to all of us, that when you print an e-mail the entire display is printed. But with this tool you can actually select the part of the e-mail (or whatever your homework is) that you want to print and leave out the things you want to leave out.
My second example has happened to me various times. When you are going to print from a graphic website (www.biodigitalhuman.com for example) you are not able to print from the website when you hint print directly from your computer. Teacher nowadays don't consider: "I couldn't print it!" an excuse. So to prevent further fights you can use this tech tool. As I said earlier in this post; you need to put the URL of the exact thing you want to print, select it suing the mouse, and print it.
This is a very simple tech tool to use. It doesn't involve a lot steps and honestly I doesn't require rocket science to figure this out. From now own I am going to use this to print a lot of things.
